Is it safe to get a massage in pregnancy?

Yes, it is completely safe to get a massage in pregnancy, however it is recommended to have a massage by someone who is qualified specifically in pregnancy massage. You can read more here.

Do I have to wait 12 weeks to have a massage?

No, it is completely safe to have a massage in the first trimester. There are a lot of myths to say it is not safe, but there is no research to back it. Pregnancy Massage Australia (who Jess trained through) have done their own research into this and have ruled out any concerns. However, it is advisable to have a pregnancy massage with someone who is trained in the modality. You can read more here.

Do you use oils in your massages? Are they safe?

We use the highest quality oils and aromatherapy oils in my sessions. We only use oils that are completely safe for the stage you are at.

What do I wear to the massage? Do I need to be naked?

Whatever is most comfortable for you. During your massage we will ask you to take off all your clothes except your undies. However you will be covered with a sheet and only the area that we are massaging will be exposed so we can assess and work on that area.

What do I do during my treatment?

Relax! You don’t have to do anything except relax and receive the healing and nurturing. We will guide you through the entire experience.

What do I need to set up for a session in my home?

Choose a space in your home that has room for a massage table and that you are comfortable with. We will provide everything needed for the session.

What happens if I feel uncomfortable or in pain?

Please let us know at any time if you are having pain or discomfort and we will assist you to feel comfortable. The same applies to any anxiety or concerns you may have. We can stop at any time during the session to do whatever it takes to make sure you feel safe, nurtured and supported.

What should I do after my session?

Relax as much as you can and drink lots of water. Bodywork sometimes releases toxins and trapped emotions. So please go gently with yourself and stay really hydrated.

How soon after giving birth can I have a postnatal massage?

As early as 24 hours postnatally, if your baby was birthed naturally.

If you have had a caesarean, six weeks is the recommended time to wait for a massage.

We are specifically trained in delivering safe postnatal bodywork to ensure the best outcomes for you.
