Faja for Postpartum and Pregnancy
These postpartum fajas are 2.5 metres long and available in Blush or Stripe (choose from the drop down menu).
Fajas are a traditional South American cloth used to support the pregnant and postpartum body. They are a long piece of soft cotton fabric that is bound around your back, hips and abdomen to support your pelvis and womb.
How to use a faja:
Start with the middle point of the faja at the front of your abdomen. Take both sides and wrap them around your back, crossing over at your sacrum. Bring the ends back to the front. Tie a firm knot under the womb to give extra support, or tuck the ends into the under layer of the Baja.
Arrange the fabric according to comfort and where the most support is needed. If need a hot water bottle can be slipped into the faja for extra comfort.
Benefits of using a faja:
- Soothe, comfort and support your womb, back and hips during menstruation.
- Support your womb in pregnancy. Excellent for discomfort, ashiness, pendulous belly or downward dragging sensations.
- Provide stability for your pelvis in pregnancy. Excellent for hyper mobility and pubic symphysis discomfort.
- Provide a sense of containment and stability after birthing. Enhance the process of your body ‘closing’, ‘drawing in’ or ‘coming back together’ after birth.
- Help reposition your sacrum and support your lower back.
- Provide physical support for your womb after birth. Help prevent prolapse and also encourage your womb to a central position.
- Accelerate the closing and strengthening of the rectus abdominus muscles.
